This is Richard, smiling, in the forefront of this picture.
Richard is an example of "investing in human capital." I believe this is the best way to help our world. Consider the fact that Africa's economies would have DOUBLED in size over the past 30 years if just women had better education & employment opportunities. Africa is a trade partner, diplomacy partner, and provides examples of government formation and structure that will be important in the future for our educators, leaders, and children. Not to mention that Africa is a central focus and opportunity to improving human rights and world peace.
No one at By Grace orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya, has money for school. They get a little from the government for elementary and secondary school, but after that, the orphanage can not afford to give them any further education, housing, or food.
If you ask me, this is a huge waste. These kids have nothing to do but study, and many of them excel in their studies. Richard is an example. He began his education at By Grace and excelled. Now he is pursuing his business degree at Kampala University, and has never had a GPA under 3.98, and he's currently at a GPA of 4.29!
If Richard gets his degree next February as planned, his world will be open to an immense amount of opportunities. His research focuses on the challenges in marketing insurance services, and is a case study of Uganda. I am working with an organization in Chicago to determine whether there are any opportunities for him in the United States.
PLEA:
We raised enough money that Richard was able to get to Uganda to start his classes this semester. But we didn't raise enough to provide him with adequate food and shelter. Now Richard has nowhere to live, and no money for food.
Please donate anything that you can, in these hard times, towards his continued success.
10,000 thank yous.
SJ
